The Importance of Light on Your Wedding Day!

No good lighting, no good photographs.  That’s how essential the science of lighting is to professional photographers.  They understand that different kinds of lighting can create different effects in a photograph and hence use the lighting to the desired photographs. Hard light is direct sunlight, when the sun is high in the sky and is generally characterized by strong contrast and hard shadows on a person’s face.  Direct sunlight can ruin your photographs unless your photographer works with it creatively. Since it can be used to create great shots but they can have a strong look and might not be to everyone’s taste.

Now we have the ‘Golden Hour’, 30 minutes before sunset and for a little while after, characterized by Orange tones, sunset light, soft glow is the best time to click some stunning picures!

Next is the dusk light, 15 to 20 minutes after sunset and is characterized by balanced light with soft colors. You get a real nice soft light with minimal shadowing at this hour.

After dusk we have overcast light or the light on rainy days characterized by soft & balanced light which provides you a great opportunity to get creative for some dramatic shots.

Besides natural light we have the artificial lights that can be changed to suit one’s mood.
